That winning time I was trying to master
I knew what I wanted and that was to win
But the entry fee money was starting to run thin
I loved my current partner, but we just weren't a hit
I needed to look else where for a better fit
So looking is what I started to do
I hopped on a plane, Wyoming is where I flew
To see the biggest barrel racing horseman around they say
If you need a winning horse, he'll have one here today
Well, he did, several of them in fact were there to show
But, my oh my, how would I know
The first one I stepped on was sure quit the treat
Pinning his ears, swishing his tail, I could barely keep my seat
But he turned every barrel quick and tight
Sped through the pattern, an awesome sight
I'll take him I said, he's coming home to Washington with me
I have big dreams I'm chasing you see
And that is just what we did, for the next years to come
It was a mystery to almost everyone
I mean, here was this horse, no papers, bumps on his legs and crooked feet
And here he was, one that was darn hard to beat
The clock was suddenly stopping faster
And something was happening that I could not before master
Inside my heart captured a feeling I never knew
Every time I looked at this horse, my dreams were coming true
From small Jackpots to big Pro Rodeos, I was a barrel racer
Dirt flying, hoofs pounding, crowd cheering, there was nothing greater
This horse, I will forever be grateful to
He taught me how to live in a way I never knew
How to be confident, and ride with style
How to be appreciative and lose with a smile
How to chase my dreams, don't let anyone get in your way
How to strive to be better, no matter what the mean ones say
Thank you Sonny, I am a barrel racer, because of you
And because of you, and your spirit all my dreams will continue to come true
